We stay 2 weeks in our paradise Bazaruto Island because it is so nice but also because we decide to skip the first weather window to repair the mainsail car of Umandum. Most of the other sailboats leave so even more paradise for us.

In the tropics we do not see any change in barometric pressure except the daily heating of the sun. Here the barometer really makes sense: if the pressure falls rapidly a low is approaching!

Des gives us the goahead. The sailing was good and fast again. During the nightly approach of Durban harbour thunderstorms all night, some hits where pretty close.. Still best to wait until the morning light before going into port. Calling port control on channel 16 to get permission to enter the port, 10 minutes later Umadum on the radio. Very glad to hear they are here as well.

The contrast could not be bigger: We just came from a place where nobody will touch your things and if you forget or loose something they will bring it to you.

Look where we are now, an unsafe anchorage in the middle of a busy port because Durban marina is full. And when going into town everybody warns you to watch your belongings and close your ship because there are criminals, robbers and theeves everywhere!

Really shocking to be back in our western world…
